Rochester Airport is delighted to welcome Portal Aviation, which officially opened its doors on 1st November 2026, marking a new chapter for the airport’s flying community.

The new business brings together a flying school, aircraft operations and a club environment, providing a welcoming base for people discovering aviation and those continuing their flying journey.

With a fleet including microlight aircraft, a Cessna 152 and a Cessna 172, Portal Aviation will contribute to the range of flying opportunities available at Rochester Airport. Its arrival supports the airport’s ambition to encourage participation in general aviation and develop a thriving community of pilots, students and aviation businesses.

Ben Spiers, Airport Director at Rochester Airport, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Portal Aviation to Rochester Airport and congratulate the team on opening their doors.

“Starting an aviation business takes considerable commitment, and it has been a pleasure to support the team as they prepare for this milestone. Their enthusiasm and investment in Rochester are very welcome.

“We want the airport to be a place where people feel encouraged to take their first steps into flying, develop their skills and enjoy being part of an active aviation community. We look forward to working with Portal Aviation as they establish and grow their business.”

Portal Aviation’s opening adds to the community of independent businesses based at Rochester Airport, each contributing to its role as a centre for flying, training and employment in Medway.
