Operations commencing on 1 November 2026
Rochester Airport is delighted to announce that Portal Aviation will commence operations at the airport on 1st November 2026, marking a new chapter for flying training within its aviation community.
The airport looks forward to welcoming the Portal Aviation team and supporting them as they establish their flying school, bringing new opportunities for people across Medway, Kent and beyond to discover flying and pursue their aviation ambitions.
The announcement comes as one of Rochester Airport’s longstanding flying schools prepares to leave. The airport is saddened by its departure and wishes to thank everyone involved for their contribution to the airport community and their support for students over the years. The team leaves with the airport’s appreciation and best wishes for the future.
Ben Spiers, Airport Director at Rochester Airport, said:
“Flying schools are at the heart of our airport community, helping people take their first steps into aviation and develop their skills and confidence. We are delighted to welcome Portal Aviation and look forward to supporting their team as they begin operations in November.
“We will be sad to see one of our longstanding schools leave, and we are grateful for the contribution they have made. We also recognise that change can be unsettling for students, and we want anyone whose training has been affected to know that they can contact us for support in exploring their options.”
Mike Laskey, from the Portal Aviation management team, said:
“On behalf of our group of Directors, professional flight instructors and operations personnel, we’re tremendously excited to launch our brand new flying school at Rochester Airport on 1st November 2026. Whether you are looking to fly for pleasure or work towards a career in aviation, our flight experience vouchers and pilot training packages are designed to suit everybody regardless of age and previous knowledge. Please reach out to us at [email protected] or pop in to see us, we’d be delighted to talk to you.”
